The C4 football clinic is one of the first steps in developing a comprehensive coaches ministry in South Georgia. We are striving to develop resources, events, and training for coaches and FCA staff to greater impact coaches, campuses, communities, and the world for Christ. We believe that these areas can be developed with excellence both spiritually and in curriculum. Our desire is to put the very best programs, camps, and events together to challenge our coaches and athletes to a level of excellence that represents our Lord, Jesus Christ. That is why we sought out some of the best coaches in the state and in colleges to share with you.
I hope that you will join us and experience what God has in store for you as Christ and football meet to challenge you to be the warrior and coach that HE wants you to be!

Phil Jones

Shorter University Head Football Coach

A little about Coach: Phil Jones enters his sixth season as Shorter University head football coach, having led the five-year old Hawks’ program to four consecutive winning seasons, one conference championship and its first berth into the NAIA Football Championship Series. In five seasons at the helm, Jones has transformed Shorter football into a national power while maintaining the program’s vision for consistent excellence both on and off the field. This impressive combination of academic and athletic success defines Shorter University Football.
Jones came to Shorter in 2005 from NCAA Division I-AA (now FCS) Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. He served as assistant head coach for the Bulldogs, who won back-to-back Big South Conference championships during his tenure. He served as an assistant coach at Southern Methodist University and at the University of Georgia.
In addition to his collegiate coaching success, Jones coached Georgia high school football for 29 years at Northside - Warner Robins, Head coach at Jeff Davis High, Fitzgerald High, Dooly County High, and Winder Barrow High.
Jones was honored as the 2008 Fellowship of Christian Athletes National Coach of the Year, joining an elite class of honorees such as Bobby Bowden, Sylvester Croom and Tommy Bowden. He and his wife, Janie, have 2 children and five grandchildren.

The heart of FCA are coaches. Our role is to minister to these men and women by encouraging and equipping them to know and serve Christ!
